Stories taking place in the past of Krynn, during the Age of Dreams, the Age of Might, and the early years of the Age of Despair. Events leading up to the War of the Lance are considered Preludes.

There are, however, certain books which are very popular, which also happen to deal with some of the main historical events of the timeline: Firstborn, The Kinslayer Wars, The Legend of Huma, and The Kingpriest Trilogy.
