Interesting developments at WoTC as Margaret Weis, Tracy and Laura Hickman, and Joe Manganiello are pictured with the new head of D&D Dan Ayoub.
As most of you will know, Joe has been working for years to try and get a live action Dragonlance show produced. He confirmed just last year that the project was not moving forwards despite the script being well received. However, in his foreword to the 40th anniversary edition of Chronicles he talked about having faith and has previously said “Maybe somewhere down the line, someone comes back or the company switches hands and somebody sees the value.” Dan Ayoub might just be that someone.
Dan Ayoub has been with Hasbro since 2022 but only became the head of the D&D franchise 3 months ago when D&D moved to a full franchise model. This means everything to do with the franchise will come under one umbrella, including books, games, films, and TV. On getting his new role Dan said “The impact here cannot be overstated; this is massive for D&D and will allow a strong, coordinated, and well-funded approach for the franchise, and most importantly, for us, the fans.” Yesterday, Dan posted the same picture as above and said “When I took over D&D, I had some very specific folks I wanted to bring back to The Table. Today, I had the honor of welcoming these folks back home. Amazing things ahead.”

I sincerely HOPE this means that WoTC formerly TSR will once again be publishing NOVELS for D&D and Dragonlance! I’ve only been trying to get published by these people since I was 19, 42 years ago!!! Maybe NOW, that I’m 60 years old and my fingers can barely type anymore, they will consent to READ one of my manuscripts and publish me!!!
