Kaz and the Dragon’s Children

The Dragons of Krynn

I’ve discovered that there are a lot of people who have read the three novels involving Kaz, but are unaware of this short story from the anthology THE DRAGONS OF KRYNN. Written some time after KAZ THE MINOTAUR, this story was my way of responding already to readers who had wanted more of him.

The story takes place only months after THE LEGEND OF HUMA and deals with a situation that would touch the future in many ways. While not going into detail, I give evidence to the long-term plans of Takhisis and those serving her cause. On a more personal note for Kaz, we see a bit of how he’s been since the recent death of Huma. Although there were no plans at the time, I had an idea what I wanted for him beyond KAZ THE MINOTAUR. Thus, when offered the chance to write about the minotaurs in the LOST HISTORIES set, I asked about returning to Kaz, so that I could follow up with my intentions. There was a little hesitation as the company was not certain if anyone cared about Kaz after so long, but I got my way. I was therefore able to tie both previous novels and the short story into what would become the story concerning Kaz’s destiny.
