Happy New Year! The New Lexicon!

The Dashwood Society
Here is a write-up of the secret society I used in my Heroes of Defiance play-by-post campaign. It is called the Dashwood Society and it is based loosely on the Hellfire Club as seen in the pages of the X-men comics. The Tarsian branch has just been wiped out but there are still three more branches with which to bedevil your players. Or if you feel up to the challenge reconstitute the Tarsis branch and have at it.

Dragonlance Wins… AGAIN!
Well folks, the results of last week’s poll are in, and once again, Dragonlance wins! View the results here. Dragonlance pulled ahead by almost five percentage points! Hopefully this will send a clear message to Wizards of the Coast that Dragonlance will not be forgotten by its fans.

Dragonlance Canticle #44 – Gencon 2011 in Review

Dragonlance is not the 2012 setting.
Wizards of the Coast announced at the GenCon New Product Seminar that Dragonlance will not be the 2012 D&D campaign setting. While the setting has not been announced yet, it sounds like it may be a new setting, as well as a new way to play.

WotC to Publish Back Catalog in E-Book Format
Wizards of the Coast announced at their New Product Seminar at GenCon that three classic backlist D&D novels are being released every week, including Margaret Weis’ Dark Disciple trilogy.

D&D Adventure Format
Bruce Cordell wrote an article on the WotC site about the D&D Adventure Format. The article mentions how Cordell looked at the original Dragonlance modules and I3 Pharoah (by Tracy Hickman) as inspiration for the new format.

Dragonlance Canticle #42 – Romantic Fantasy in the Age of Mortals
In this episode of the Dragonlance Canticle, Tristan, Trampas, Chuck, and Cam talk about romantic fantasy, one of the genres of fantasy to which Dragonlance traditionally belongs. But are the stories being told in the Age of Mortals really romantic fantasy? This episode also contains the final part of our four-part Dark Sun interview with Chris Flipse of Athas.org.

Krynn Wins
This Just In… Krynn Wins! Thanks to everyone who voted in the poll. This is a clear message to Wizards of the Coast that Dragonlance should be given more focus. Hopefully we will be seeing more DL from them in the future.

Three Heads, One Plan, Inspired by Malystryx
Wizards of the Coast has released a preview of Calastryx, a three-headed red dragon appearing in the upcoming Monster Vault: Threats to the Nentir Vale. Name sound familiar? It should. Matthew L. Martin got the scoop from Mike Mearls that the name was inspired by Dragonlance’s Malystryx! Read more about it in this thread.

Knight of the Lily for 4e!
The Knight of the Lily makes its 4th edition preview! This article gives guidelines on playing the Knight of the Lily at heroic levels using the Blackguard class, and then gives a paragon path for when you hit paragon levels. This is kind of an experimental format, so please let us know what you think on this thread.

RIP Kevin James Kage
We have just heard word that Kevin James Kage, aka Bard, has passed away. Kevin wrote a short story for one of the Dragonlance anthologies, and was one of the founding members of the Dragonlance Underground. You can find out more information on this thread. We at the Dragonlance Nexus would like to offer our condolences to Kevin’s family and friends.

Looking to play a Knight of Solamnia in 4th Edition Dungeons and Dragons? You might want to look at a nifty handbook from member daperdepa. Not only does it contain a theme using mechanics first seen in the Dark Sun Campaign Setting, but it also contains several Paragon Paths to round out your character. Check out the handbook here!
