Dragonlance Canticle #35 – Unnecessary Races and Kender

In this episode, Tristan Zimmerman (Zarvox), Trampas Whiteman (Dragonhelm), and Chuck Martinell (Gerrin) talk about whether there are just too many races on Krynn. Somewhere along the way, they get horribly sidetracked and wind up talking about kender again.

It’s true that anyone reading or playing in DL can quickly find themselves drowning in races and creatures. I do like the distinction that was made in how to identify a race vs. a monster. (Sorry I couldn’t remember which one made the comment). I also have to respectfully argue that the mass variety in DL is one of the things that gives it it’s charm, though it is often disappointing to see how a race is thrown away or worse yet, once an author embellishes on them they turn out to be dull or even ridiculous. Look at the Brutes/Tarmaks. (Every time I hear this name I think of airport security… NOT GOOD!)
